Happy Monday Hilltopper Fans, while we’re still 38 days from WKU Football’s season opener against Central Arkansas, we are finally starting to get more Hilltopper related news across the internet as the fall seasons are gearing up. Here’s all of the WKU centric news you may have missed over the weekend.
Tight End Kyle Fourtenbary was named to the John Mackey Award watch list that goes to the nation’s best tight end. Hopefully, he is the latest in a long-running stretch of elite production from the position that started with Jack Doyle and has continued to Mik’quan Dean.
In other watch list news, center Seth Joest was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list for the best center in the country.
Moustapha Diagne officially announced his departure from the Hilltopper basketball program. Best of luck wherever you end up Mou.
Kevin Sweeney at CBB Central ranked Charles Bassey as the #2 mid-major center in the nation heading into next season.
Warren East softballer Katie Gardner has changed her college destination from UT-Martin to WKU. She was Miss Kentucky for Softball and is a huge pick-up for head coach Amy Tudor.
It’s that time of year again. The winner takes all $2 million The Basketball Tournament is underway. Justin Johnson didn’t play in the West Virginia Wildcats one and done performance. AJ Slaughter, however, did stand out during KBC’s two games.
After that amazing first-round performance, KBC ran into #1 seed Loyalty Is Love. Despite playing well for three quarters they bowed out in a 91–80 loss. Slaughter was the second-leading scorer at 14 after former Tennessee star Chris Lofton.
2020 Orlando Prep Safety BJ Wagner will visit WKU on Wednesday. He holds an impressive offer list and has WKU in his final four with West Virginia, Rutgers, and Missouri.

ProTopper Ben Morrison has retired from baseball to go to medical school. He was having a great season for the Angels A & High A affiliates pitching to a 1.58 ERA in 26 appearances. Best of luck moving forward Ben.
