Just over 24 hours after Michelle Clark-Heard officially left for the head coaching position at the University of Cincinnati, it was announced 2018 signee Akira Levy was released from her commitment to the Lady Topper program.
Akira is a Top 70 overall player and a Top 20 point guard, and averaged 21.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists a contest in her junior season.
I hate to admit it, but Levy leaving was really only a matter of time, and if she hadn’t, it’d have been the first huge win for new head coach Greg Collins keeping her.
Not saying her departure is an indictment on either Levy or Collins/the state of the Lady Topper program, but it just had the feeling of if anyone was going to decommit, it’d have been Levy.
As of now, the Lady Tops still boast two signees in Elysa Wesolek, a Top 100 ESPN Hoopgurlz player and a two-time All-State selection in South Carolina, as well as Kallie Searcy, who could slot in to from something of a dyamic duo with Raneem Elgedawy in the paint.
WKU also boast 11 returnees from the 2017/18 season.
