Saturday, March 4, 2017, on the road against the Rice Owls, was a breakout performance for WKU Lady Topper guard Sidnee Bopp. She nailed five three pointers, scored 17 points and played 25 minutes. At the time, that seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime performance.
Lady Topper fans know what happened to Sidnee Bopp after that. In her last five games in the 2016–17 season, Sidnee scored at least nine points in every game and hit at least two three point shots per contest. She scored 68 of her entire season’s 120 points in those games.
In fact, Bopp only has 152 career points heading into her junior year.
Translation: She just lost her ever loving mind at the end of last year.
So who in the world is Sidnee Bopp? The 5'6" junior from Marmaduke, Arkansas, was a star in basketball and track in high school, and she has always played with a chip on her shoulder. Now, she’s got an injection of confidence, and she looks poised to step up into the starting lineup for the Lady Toppers this year.

What role she will play remains to be seen, but Sidnee Bopp brings tenacity and effort to the Lady Toppers. Nothing gets a team fired up like seeing the smallest player that doesn’t seem like much doing something extraordinary, like averaging 13.6 points per game in the most crucial games of the year.
If the Lady Toppers are to accomplish their goals for 2017–18, Sidnee Bopp needs to play like she did late last season. If she does, the already dangerous Lady Toppers become lethal.
If you haven’t seen the WKU Lady Toppers in person, I dare you to give them a shot and not be entertained. They have played the best basketball on the Hill since Michelle Clark-Heard took over the program after the 2011–12 season.
