Former Hilltopper receiver Antwane Grant, who just a couple of weeks ago looked to be sitting pretty for his second season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League, was released by the squad on Monday afternoon.
In talking with Adrian DeCorby, who covers the Riders for Onside CFL Fantasy, he made it seem like the Riders were more content with seeing what the youth they have in the pipe as opposed to continuing to work and develop Antwane. Jordan Williams-Lambert and Shaquelle Evans were ones he named specifically prior to the first preseason game a couple of years ago, and it appears SSK is going to see what they have to offer.
The news is tough, as all things considered it seemed Antwane was in a solid spot all throughout last year. DeCorby told me that he’s bummed to see Grant get let go, and hopes that he’ll land somewhere.
We do, too.
