On Tuesday, the Baltimore Ravens announced they’ve re-signed Bobby Rainey directly to their 53-man squad.
Rainey, who opened this past preseason on the Ravens’ squad, was cut in the first round of roster cuts in the final week of the preseason.
The Ravens picked Rainey up, initially, to give them some options after Kenneth Dixon was hit with a season-long suspension for substance use.
This is, technically, Rainey’s third stint with the Ravens but he has yet to play a regular-season down for the Birds. Maybe that’ll change this coming week.
It remains to be seen if Rainey will be used out of the backfield in any capacity or if Baltimore will just want to utilize his kick returning skills, although Rainey was signed probably because of 1.) the Ravens’ familiarity with him and 2.) Terrence West is expected to miss some time with a calf injury.
Regardless, happy to see he’s back in the league.
