For the second time this year, and for the second time in as many years, the Miami Dolphins have passed over promoting Brandon Doughty to the 53-man roster for another body in the wake of a quarterback injury.
With Jay Cutler going down due to suffering cracked ribs, the Dolphins needed depth behind Matt Moore. And, instead of promoting from within with someone who has been in the system for two years, they signed former Bears signal caller David Fales.
If there’s a silver lining for Doughty, or those of us who want to see him get an opportunity — the Dolphins made a roster cut (releasing Byron Maxwell) to make room for Fales.
I don’t doubt that Miami still wants Doughty around — I don’t think they thing he’s ready, even with two years in the system from the practice squad. However, it is frustrating to see Doughty continuously get passed over for other guys when the opportunity arises.
