On Friday, the New Orleans Pelicans announced their roster for this summer’s Las Vegas Summer League, and it features a familiar name and face.
That’s right! Coleby becomes the first member of last year’s WKU basketball team to land on a Summer League roster.
Coleby averaged 11.1 points and 8.0 rebounds a game in his only year with the Tops.
If you ask me, I think Coleby has the best chance to be the first person from this past year’s team to make the NBA, even though it isn’t necessarily an easy road for him.
The Pelicans open the Summer League on Friday, July 6 against Toronto (2:30 p.m. on ESPNU), take on Miami on July 7 (4 p.m. on NBA TV) and close league play on July 9 with a 2 p.m. matchup against Detroit (also on ESPNU) before the Summer League playoffs start on July 11.
We are still waiting to see where (or if) Darius Thompson and Justin Johnson will land. But, we have at least one reason to keep an eye on Vegas over the next couple of weeks.
