#ProTops: Former Toppers In NFL Week 14 Action
We are in the home stretch of the NFL season and, as it stands, just about every former Hilltopper is in the playoff mix.
We are in the home stretch of the NFL season and, as it stands, just about every former Hilltopper is in the playoff mix.
In fact, if the season were to end today, six former Toppers would be in the playoffs.
Currently on the outside looking in are Jack Doyle and Taywan Taylor, both of which are on 6–6 clubs who are one loss behind the last AFC Wild Card.
Anyway, lets see where everyone plays this week. A fun little oddity before we begin — a former Topper will be in all three primetime games this week.
Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans (Sunday 12 p.m., CBS)
Doyle is out for the remainder of the year with a kidney injury.
Taywan Taylor, Tennessee Titans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (Thursday 7:20 p.m., FOX/NFL Network)
Taywan looks to replicate his career day last week where he totaled over 100 yards on just three catches in primetime against a Jacksonville defense that continues to look worse week after week.
Joel Iyiegbuniwe, Chicago Bears vs. Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams (Sunday 8:20 p.m., NBC)
It’s one of the first times (and most likely one of the only times) there’s a chance that we’ll see a ProTopper tackle another ProTopper to end a play.
However, with Iggy’s playing time behind Chicago’s stout linebacking corps plus Higbee’s lack of targets this year, that’s not super bound to happen, but a man can dream.
Deon Yelder, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Baltimore Ravens (Sunday 12 p.m., CBS)
Yelder might not see a ton of playing time with being the newbie on the Chiefs offense, but with the whole Kareem Hunt thing, there is an opportunity for more touches.
Forrest Lamp, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Cincinnati Bengals (Sunday 3:05 p.m., CBS)
Lamp has been active just once this year. Hopefully, that’s a stat that’ll change on Sunday.
Mike White, Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Sunday 3:25 p.m., FOX)
Mike White has seen 0 action this year and it’s unlikely he will this week.
George Fant, Seattle Seahawks vs. vs. Minnesota Vikings (Monday 7:15 p.m., ESPN)
Fant saw a season-best snap count last year, and has been moved into a lineman/blocking tight end hybrid role for the Seahawks. He’ll close the week on Monday night against the Vikings.
