It was severely disappointing that Jeremy Evans didn’t start this season with the Atlanta Hawks after earning a training camp invite, or any NBA squad for that matter.
Rather, Evans was sent to the Hawks G-League squad, the Erie BayHawks, and has been tearing it up ever since.
In 17 games this year, Evans is averaging 16.3 points a game and 10.4 rebounds per outing in just under 30 minutes a night. Those are some dominating numbers.
Well, to put the icing on the cake, the league named Evans the Player of the Week yesterday, after scoring 24.3 points over three games, shooting 83.3% from the field (30–36) and notching a double-double in each game. As part of that 24.3 weekly scoring performance, he posted 32 in a win against the Santa Cruz Warriors on Saturday.
While Jeremy has been making his living on the defensive glass this year (he hauls in about 6.7 defensive boards a night), he averaged 5.3 offensive rebounds in this past week.
Hopefully with each double-double, 25+ point night or thundering dunk, Evans is showing NBA sides what he can do and he’ll get another crack at the show.
But, for now, keep on dominating the G-League, big guy.
