Day one of the minor league baseball season is in the books, and with it we have actual stats for one ProTopper(!) and an answer as to why we couldn’t find any information on another(!).
First, for the stats. Anderson Miller was in the Northwest Arkansas Naturals opening day lineup, hitting eighth as the DH, and went 1-for-4 with a double and two strikeouts in NWA’s 5–4 walk off victory.
For those of you who don’t follow baseball super closely, being in the opening day line up, especially in the minors, is no small thing. For however small, Miller will forever be apart of NWA history, which is rad.
Now, to the answer to one of our big questions. Andrew Edwards, who I couldn’t for the life of me find on any of the Royals’ affiliates rosters, has been placed on the 7-day disabled list for the Naturals. So, problem solved!
In terms of Cardinals’ farmhand Danny Hudzina, if The Cardinal Nation’s roster matrix feature is to be believed, he is with the State College Spikes, who wont start their season until later this summer. If you ask me, it’s a bit of a puzzling move to start him there, after he slashed .252/.310/.385 with Low-A Peoria in 74 games (all of which were better numbers than what he posted in his 56 game stint in State College in his draft year of 2016).
The NWA’s are back at it tonight at 7:05 p.m. CT in game two of the season against Corpus Christi.
