#ProTops: NFL Week 10 Recap
It was a mixed bag of a week for former Hilltoppers in the NFL this past week.
Week 10 in the 2021 NFL Season brought forth some season-changing implications. Most of them involved a few of our Hilltopper alumni. Let’s dive in to see how they’ve fared through the start of “colder” football weather.
Sunday
Jack Doyle and the Colts have won their second straight game on Sunday in an AFC South divisional clash against the Jaguars. Doyle had three receptions for 31 yards in the 23–17 win. Next week, they will travel to Buffalo for a rematch of last year's wild-card game with the Bills.
Joel Iyiegbuniwe and the Bears were on a bye week. They’ll return next Sunday to play the AFC North-leading Ravens.
Mike White started his third game of the season as the Jets played the Bills in the AFC East. White’s day was not the best as he went for 24 completions out of 44 passes with 251 yards. He also threw four interceptions in the 45–17 blowout loss before he was relieved by Joe Flacco.
George Fant started in all offensive snaps on the line and it was a challenging day for his teammates in protecting White.
The Buccaneers lost their second straight game as they were upset by the Washington Football Team on the road 29–19. Deon Yelder was inactive during the loss.
Monday
Closing our week 10 was an NFC West classic between the Rams and the 49ers. Tyler Higbee had a very challenging start to his night. He was targeted by quarterback Matthew Stafford and his reception was bobbled, leading to a pick-six from the 49ers' defense. He later made up the bad play later in the first half by snagging a touchdown catch of his own.
Higbee finished with three receptions for 20 yards, including the 12-yard touchdown in the second quarter. The Rams dropped their second straight loss as San Francisco won 31–10. They still remain in second place behind Arizona in the NFC West.
