Week 11 of the 2021 NFL season was a slow one but not a week to be sorely missed. At the end of mid-season, teams are feeling the brunt of injuries and countless roster shakeups. Fortunately, a few of our ProTops still made the best of a week that was preparing for some Thanksgiving weekend battles with intra-conference implications. Let’s see how things went:
Tyler Higbee and the Rams were on a bye week. They’ll return next Sunday for a road game against the Packers.
The Indianapolis Colts traveled to Buffalo for a wild care rematch against the Bills. On a day where Jonathan Taylor scored four rushing touchdowns, there wasn’t much production on the passing side of the offense. However, Jack Doyle did lead the team in receptions: He had three catches for 30 yards, averaging at least 10.0 yards. The Colts blew out the Bills 41-15.
Joel Iyiegbuniwe and the Bears lost a heartbreaker to the Lamar Jackson-less Ravens 16-13. They have now dropped to three wins & seven losses for 2021. A game on Thanksgiving in Detroit will be the next focus for the NFC North third place ballclub. Iggy played 22 snap counts on special teams.
Elsewhere in the Meadowlands, Mike White did not start in Sunday’s game against the Dolphins for the Jets. After throwing four interceptions last week, the Jets were needing more of a shakeup to somewhat stop the bleeding of another abysmal season for the “Gang of Green”. The team went with Joe Flacco as the starting quarterback.
George Fant played 60 snaps on offense and had a forced fumble after a Flacco turnover which was attempted to get the ball back in a wild play sequence.
On a lighter note, Fant’s Jets teammates still don’t believe that he was once a star for WKU basketball. He explains that and also where would his fellow offensive linemates be playing basketball if he was to suit up one more time:
Also, don’t forget to vote for George to send him to his first Pro Bowl.
In other ProTops news:
Forrest Lamp remains on the practice squad for the Saints.
Devon Key remains on the practice squad for the Chiefs.
Correction to last week’s recap: Deon Yelder was released from the Buccaneers before the loss to the Washington Football Team. He is currently awaiting to be signed onto another NFL roster.
