The final stretch of the NFL season has hit a snag in terms of recent scheduling & playoff hunt battles, but this created some scenarios for our WKU football alumni. While some teams are preparing for the draft season, others are chasing the Vince Lombardi Trophy going into 2021. Let’s dive in on the latest #ProTops action.
Starting off the week on Thanksgiving day:
Coach Romeo Crennel and his Texans tasted a whole lot of victory by feasting on the Lions. They traveled to Detroit and spoiled the holiday party with an impressive score of 41–25.
Heading into Sunday’s action:
Taywan Taylor was targeted once during the Browns 27–25 win over the Jaguars. However, he was able to make some appearances on 9 offensive snap counts.
The Jets have sadly fallen short for a 10th straight game against the Dolphins. Mike White was activated back on the practice squad. In the 20–3 loss to the Dolphins, George Fant was inactive. On the bright side, Fant is campaigning to be voted in for his first Pro Bowl appearance. This would definitely be a bright spot after having a current abysmal season in terms of team performance.
Jack Doyle was only targeted once on Sunday for the Colts. His team fell to division rival Titans, 45–26. He received the brunt end of being on the three tight ends set involving Trey Burton & Mo Allie-Cox. This keeps on limiting his performances at times.
The Chargers traveled to Buffalo to play the Bills in hopes of upsetting the AFC East leader. That didn’t go according to plan as they lost the matchup, 27–17. Forrest Lamp started on the offensive line and played a total of 85 snaps.
The Rams battled the 49ers in an NFC West showdown with playoff implications. Although the Rams started off strong, it was the Niners’ who ended up victorious, 23–20. Tyler Higbee played in the contest and was only targeted twice. He did account for one reception of 6 yards.
The Chiefs and Buccaneers treated fans to a Sunday afternoon showdown. The defending Super Bowl champs made life miserable for long time perennial quarterback Tom Brady for most of the afternoon. The Chiefs ended up winning 27–24. Deon Yelder continues to make some impact for the Chiefs' offense. He was targeted once and caught one reception for 2 yards.
Closing out the week for our #ProTops was Joel Iyiegbuniwe & the Chicago Bears. They played their fierce rival, the Packers on Sunday Night Football. Although Iggy played 22 special teams snaps, it was one of the only few things that went the Bears way on Sunday night. The Midway’s Finest dropped a final score of 41–25 to the Green & Yellow. This knocks them back in the playoff race for the NFC.
Stay tuned for more news as the season moves to its homestretch.
