#ProTops: NFL Week 13 Update
George Fant created a turnaround from last week, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
This past week in the NFL was nothing out of the ordinary, outside of a few divisional upsets of course. As always, our Hiltopper alumni were in the center of the action. As their teams are vying for playoff contention, let’s take a look at how they performed.
Starting off on Sunday, the Colts were surging to remain in the wild card race for the AFC Playoffs. They blanked their division rival Texans, 31-0. Jack Doyle caught one reception for 13 yards & played most of the offensive snaps as a blocking tight end.Â
The Jets played host to the Eagles in the Meadowlands. As Zach Wilson was settling in as the starting quarterback again, Mike White still remains a backup. With their 33-18 loss on Sunday, the Jets were mathematically removed from the playoff race. George Fant played all 59 snaps on offense. He was not only the highest-rated lineman on the team, but he protected Wilson well by allowing no sacks or pressures.
The season woes for the Bears continued as they fell to the NFC West-leading Cardinals, 33-22. Joel Iyiegbuniwe netted a combined tackle on special teams for the second straight week.Â
Later in the afternoon on the west coast, the Rams hosted the Jaguars and snapped their three-game losing streak in the process, coming off their bye week with a 37-7 win. Tyler Higbee caught five passes for 48 yards. His production at tight end continues to rise as he remains a favorite target of Matthew Stafford. The Rams continue to remain in second place in the NFC West with a clear-cut path for a wild card spot.
