#ProTops: NFL Week 14 Update
George Fant continues to be a bright spot for the Jets season & more from the week that was across the NFL.
In a relatively quiet week in the NFL, Hilltopper football alumni was still able to impact the game in their own ways. Playoff implications are starting to thin out for some teams while others are continuing the Super Wild Card weekend chase. Let’s see how our guys did in Week 14:
Beginning the week in the Meadowlands, the Jets battled the Saints where Forrest Lamp still remains on their practice squad. The AFC East last-place Jets are now 3-10 on the season following their 30-9 loss.
Mike White did not play as he remains a backup to Zach Wilson.
George Fant played all snap counts on offense at left tackle. He held his own as he allowed one sack from the Saints defense but still posting a high grade among the rest of the offensive line.
Even in the midst of another suffering season, the Jets are more appreciative of Big George’s protection.
Jack Doyle and the Colts were bye this past week. They’ll return next week on the road against fellow wild card contender Patriots.
In primetime on Sunday Night Football, Joel Iyiegbuniwe played 30 snaps during the Bears divisional loss to longtime rivals and NFC North-leading Packers. They were the recipient of a series sweep after the 45-30 decision. They’re now 4-9 in the season, well out of the wild card race.
Tyler Higbee was ruled out of Monday’s primetime division matchup against the Cardinals. He was listed on the COVID-19 reserve list hours before kickoff in Glendale, Arizona.
The Rams were victorious 30-23. They remain in second place in the NFC West after the series split.
