#ProTops Primer: Bye, Bye, Bye
Unofficially, last week was the most successful week for ProToppers in NFL history, as three former Hilltoppers scored touchdowns.
Unofficially, last week was the most successful week for ProToppers in NFL history, as three former Hilltoppers scored touchdowns.
Not only that, but two Toppers scored not only on national television, but in the same game as Taywan Taylor and Jack Doyle each got 15 seconds on Monday Night Football.
Antwane Grant, Saskatchewan Roughriders (vs. Montreal Alouettes, Fri. at 8:30Â p.m.)
Antwane was listed on the ‘Riders injury report last week and, even if he isn’t on this week’s report, it’s unfortunately doubtful he’ll see the field this week against Montreal. The Riders have clinched a playoff spot, so we’ll see if he’s active for their title run.
Bobby Rainey, Baltimore Ravens (vs. Miami Dolphins, Thurs. at 7:25Â p.m.)
It’s a two-game slide for the Ravens, after falling last week 24–16 to the Minnesota Vikings. Rainey was used exclusively in the return game, taking four kicks for 99 total yards, including a 31-yard return.
Rainey has the national spotlight on him this week, as he and his birds take on the Miami Dolphins, who passed over Brandon Doughty for a 53-man roster spot earlier in the week.
Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts (at Cincinnati Bengals, Sun. at 12Â p.m.)
It was a week to forget for the Colts, but Doyle had an okay game, hauling in six passes for 44 yards.
This is quickly turning into a season to forget for the Colts (albeit, something we knew very early in the season) and the boys from Indy will trek to Cincy this week in what might just be the worst matchup this week.
Taywan Taylor, Tennessee Titans (BYEÂ WEEK)
The bye week is here for the Titans, who are coming off a 12–9 overtime win over the Browns.
I’ll let that sit with you for a minute.
Taywan is on the cusp of truly breaking out, it seems, as he was the Titans’ second leading receiver last week, logging three catches for 45 yards.
Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams (BYEÂ WEEK)
It’s also a bye week for Higbee and his rams, who blanked the Cardinals 33–0 last week.
Higbee caught all three of his targets in the win, totaling 13 yards.
Courtney Lee, New York Knicks (0–3, 4 games this week)
It’s been a rough start to the year for the Knicks, who are off to an 0–3 start, losing by scores of 105–84 (OKC), 111–107 (Detroit) and 110–89 (Boston).
CLee is enjoying the start to his personal season, however, having started each of the first three games (and is averaging 32 minutes a night), while adding 8.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest.
This week, the Knicks stare Brooklyn, Cleveland, Denver and Houston (on ESPN) in the face.
