#ProTops Primer: Let The Games Begin!

Later this evening, the NFL regular season kicks off and, with it, three former Hilltoppers begin their campaigns.
And, while we will hopefully be adding more names to this list with four practice squad names to keep an eye on, we begin the year with three players, two of which should make solid impacts immediately and the other will go as his offense goes.
Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts (at Los Angeles Rams, Sun. @ 3:05 p.m.)
Well what do you know, we’ve got Hilltopper vs. Hilltopper in the first week this year. Jack Doyle should be in for a career season, as he’s the #1 tight end on the depth chart and continues to be a consistent not only fan favorite in Indy as the hometown kid, but team favorite as a teammate as well. It’s hard not to like him, and it’s great that he’s one of us.
Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams (vs. Indianapolis Colts, Sun. @ 3:05 p.m.)
While Doyle is in a very safe spot with the Colts, the same can’t be said for Higbee. He isn’t in danger of losing his roster spot, but the battle between him and Gerald Everett heated up a bit throughout the preseason. Higbee enters week one as the #1 TE on the depth chart, however, so hopefully in games that count, he can prove his worth.
Taywan Taylor, Tennessee Titans (vs. Oakland Raiders, Sun @ 12:00 p.m.)
While he isn’t the #1 wide receiver on the depth chart, Taywan is maybe who I’m most excited about. Not only were we hearing near exclusively good things about Taylor out of Titans camp, but there seemed to be something new and positive being said about him every week. Call me a slave to media hype, but I like what the Titans have put together on offense and it could be a lot of fun to watch, and Taylor out of the slot might just make a name for himself sooner rather than later.
