#ProTops Primer: You Get A Score, And You Get A Score, And You Get A Score

Unofficially, last week was the most successful week for ProToppers in NFL history, as three former Hilltoppers scored touchdowns.

Unofficially, last week was the most successful week for ProToppers in NFL history, as three former Hilltoppers scored touchdowns.

Not only that, but two Toppers scored not only on national television, but in the same game as Taywan Taylor and Jack Doyle each got 15 seconds on Monday Night Football.

Antwane Grant, Saskatchewan Roughriders (at Calgary Stampeders, Fri. at 8 p.m.)

Antwane was listed on the ‘Riders injury report last week and, even if he isn’t on this week’s report, it’s unfortunately doubtful he’ll see the field this week in Calgary.

Bobby Rainey, Baltimore Ravens (at Minnesota Vikings, Sun. at 12 p.m.)

Rainey made his debut with the Ravens after being signed earlier in the week, and did not make Baltimore regret their decision, returning a kick 96-yards for a touchdown.

Rainey totaled 191 return yards in five attempts, and caught a couple of passes for 11 yards. The Ravens lost, however, in overtime, 27–24.

Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, Sun. at 12 p.m.)

Doyle caught seven passes for 50 yards, including his touchdown play from the backfield.

The Colts fell to the Titans for the first time in 11 tries, but they have the Jags and one of the league’s best defenses to contend with this week.

Taywan Taylor, Tennessee Titans (at Cleveland Browns, Sun. at 12 p.m.)

Taywan caught his first career touchdown on a BOMB from Marcus Mariota in the fourth quarter as the go-ahead score for the Titans last week.

Unfortunately, that was just one of his two catches (he was targeted four times) and 53 of his 61 total yards. As long as he keeps scoring though, I guess we can accept it.

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams (vs. Arizona Cardinals, Sun. at 12 p.m.)

The only ProTopper not in on the fun this past week was Higbee, who was targeted three times and had just one catch for zero yards.

Maybe he can take advantage of a not great Cards defense and start putting up some bigger numbers, again.

Courtney Lee, New York Knicks (at Oklahoma City Thunder, Thurs. at 7 p.m.)

C-Lee opens his season tonight against the OKC Thunder on TNT. Last year, Lee was a regular in the Knicks starting line up, starting 74 games and averaged 10.8 points per game, along with 3.4 rebounds a contest.

It’s a truly a new era in New York, with Carmelo Anthony having left town (for, ironically, the Thunder) so it’ll be interesting to see what trickle effect that has on the rest of the Knicks roster, including Courtney.
