While it’s been a highly successful campaign for one former Hilltopper in powder blue, the ride in Nashville came to an end on Tuesday for one former Topper with the Titans.
Ferguson, who was signed as an undrafted free agent after Matt Cassel went down in training camp, has seen his time with the Titans come to an end as he was cut from the squad’s practice team.
Honestly, I never was a fan of Ferguson being in Nashville. Of all the possible places he could have gone, the Titans were one of the worst fits because of how stable their quarterback situation is (with Marcus Mariota as QB1 and NFL veterans Matt Cassel and Brandon Weeden as your backups).
Whenever I brought that point up, everyone always brought up the proximity of the Titans to WKU and, yes there’s a point to be had there, professionally for him it wasn’t a great fit.
I do hope he finds a home (be it a practice squad spot elsewhere or a QB3 slot with a less stable situation) sooner rather than later, but if I’m being candid, I’m glad he’s out of Tennessee.
