We’re approximately two-thirds of the way through the 2020 NFL season. Some notable results and misfortunes surround each of the 32 NFL teams. These are the headlines that have impacted our Hilltopper football alumni this week.
Starting on Thursday:
There was some frustrating news surrounding quarterback Mike White. In a questioning move by the Jets, he was waived by the team earlier in the week.
Jets Waive QB Mike White

This was also a move that did not make sense on paper. Sam Darnold is currently nursing an injury, leading former Super Bowl winner Joe Flacco to take over the team. After serving as a backup in a few numbers of games, White was waived. We will be tracking his next destination.
Jack Doyle was inactive as he was under concussion protocol from Week 9. His Colts beat the Titans in a critical AFC South battle, 34–17. They are now in first place in the division.
Deon Yelder & the Chiefs were on a bye week.
George Fant’s Jets were also on a bye week.
Moving onto Sunday, another matchup between #ProTops alumni had piqued some interest. Coach Romeo Crennel and his Texans traveled to Cleveland to take on the Browns. The Texans fell to the playoff-contending Browns in a close game, 10–6. Crennel’s ball club is now clinging to third place in the AFC South. Taywan Taylor did not play in Sunday’s game.
Forrest Lamp started his ninth game on the offensive line for the Chargers as they traveled to Miami to face the Dolphins. Sadly, the Bolts would once again taste defeat as they lost to the Dolphins, 29–21. Lamp tallied for 66 snap counts. His stock is up, per the Athletic L.A ($).
Tyler Higbee & the Rams were hosts to fierce division rivals, the Seahawks. This contest included the grand prize of taking the lead in the very competitive NFC West. The Hawks, led by MVP front-runner quarterback Russell Wilson were no match for the Rams as the victory went towards the blue & gold, 23–16. Higs was able to have a productive game, catching three passes for 60 yards. This was his most in quite some time during this season, outside of his Week 2 breakout performance.
Closing out the week was the Bears and Vikings on Monday Night Football. Joel Iyiegbuniwe was on special teams' duty during the 19–13 loss to the Vikings.
Stay tuned for more updates as the season progresses.
