The ninth week in the NFL was a wild one, to say the least. As a fair amount of the 32 teams are trying to strengthen their playoff hopes, others are preparing in advance for the next season when it comes to draft position. Here’s how our beloved Hilltoppers did this past week.
“Tight End U” representative Jack Doyle had himself a pretty nice game with his appearance in the Colts 26–24 last-minute loss to the Steelers. The loss was even rough as the team will oversee the day to day progress of quarterback Jacoby Brissett. He left the game in the first quarter with a knee injury. In the same series, Brian Hoyer came in to relieve the starter and threw a red zone touchdown pass to Doyle. Jack finished the game with 3 receptions for 22 yards. He was only targeted 4 times. Brissett did suffer an MCL sprain and the team is anxiously awaiting news for a return in next week’s contest against the Dolphins. On the bright side, Doyle was the more productive tight end on the day as he beat out Eric Ebron on yards and receptions. Here’s the clip of the touchdown below:
Fellow “Tight End U” alum Tyler Higbee and his Rams were on the bye week.
Elsewhere for his division foes in the NFC West, George Fant saw some action in the Seahawks overtime thriller victory over the Buccaneers. Still, his presence on Sunday was a valued option at offensive tackle in some key plays. I can agree with some people from the #The12s when I say this, he will come on as a tight end and eventually make some fans pretty excited. Love is shown below:

A +18 point differential shouldn't net you a 7-2 record, but the 2019 Seattle Seahawks are a team that lives on the…www.fieldgulls.com
They’ll take on the undefeated 49ers next week on Monday Night Football. At a 7–2 record, this matchup will determine if the NFC Championship crown jewel will come from the Hawks or their counterparts from the Bay Area.
Another alum of “Tight End U”, Deon Yelder was on the active roster but didn’t play any snaps in the Chiefs 26–23 victory against the Vikings.
Taywan Taylor didn’t see special teams action in the Browns 24–19 loss to the Broncos.
Joel Iyiegbuniwe was not in action for the Bears 22–14 loss to the Eagles.
Mike White remains on the practice squad for the Jets.
Elsewhere in the CFL:
DeAndre Farris finished out his first season for the Ottawa REDBLACKS with 45 tackles and 1 interception while playing in 14 games. He started 11 of them in the defensive backfield.
Cam Echols-Luper was removed from the BC Lions practice squad.
Jonathan Dowling finishes his season on the injured reserve for the Toronto Argonauts. He started three games in the defensive backfield, tallying for 17 total tackles.
All three teams were eliminated from Grey Cup Playoff contention.
Best of luck to all three #CFLToppers for staying up in the Great White North in their respective careers and congratulations on the individual 2019 seasons.
As always, keep it locked here as we will continue with more updates for the remainder of the 2019 professional football season.
