The first reported undrafted free agent signing of a Hilltopper following the conclusion of the 2018 NFL Draft came when NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero said tight end Deon Yelder will be signing with New Orleans.
Yelder broke out of nowhere this past year, catching 52 balls for 688 yards and seven touchdowns. He very quickly became a favorite target of Mike White’s and, looking at the NO depth chart, there’s no mainstay at the position so if Yelder can put on a strong showing for the Saints coaching staff, he may find himself a favorite target of the White-esque Drew Brees.
UPDATE: It won’t get much more official than this. Congrats to Thump and hopefully he’ll be able to stick around and find some playing time.
