With roster cuts imminent for all 32 NFL teams to get down to 53-man rosters before week one begins, New Orleans Saints beat writer Nick Underhill is reporting the Saints will waive former WKU tight end Deon Yelder.
If NFL.com’s stats are to be believed, Yelder didn’t log a single statistic this preseason, playing somewhere around 25 snaps this preseason.
It also didn’t help the Saints signed another receiver the day prior to their preseason finale.
If I’m understanding the terminology correctly, the chance still remains for Yelder to be apart of the Saints practice squad, but only if another team doesn’t claim him first.
It’s disappointing to see how little the Saints used him, especially with all of the good things we heard as New Orleans opened their mini-camp.
The Saints have not officially announced their cuts, as of 5 p.m. ET.
