Site News: Not Another We’re Looking For Writers Post

Last night, the Lady Topper soccer team dropped their preseason opener, 2–1, to Saint Louis.
But the result, ultimately, didn’t matter.
What does matter is that IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR WKU SPORTS AGAIN! LETS GO!!!
It truly is the most wonderful time of the year. For the next 10ish months, we’ll be encapsulated by the Toppers across multiple sports and playing surfaces. Who knows what kind of journey we’ll embark on. There’ll be joyous times. There’ll be frustrated times. There’ll be sad times. That’s life as a college sports fan, and it’s the best life to live.
The one bummer about last night’s preseason game is that we, The Towel Rack, didn’t have coverage of it. That’s because, for the most part, no one apart of this writing staff was able to. Whether it’s being out of state, working odd hours or other commitments, we weren’t on hand to see the first unofficial WKU activity of the 2018/19 year.
And, it may sound corny, but it’s a bummer.
In fact, there are a lot of games we can’t provide coverage on but would very much like to. It’s hard to cover the Tops from outside of BG anyway, just by the nature of how small WKU is compared to schools like UKY or UofL (just for instance), but I think we do pretty well. But, I want TTR to be the best, most comprehensive coverage on the Hilltoppers anywhere, and as good as we cover the football and basketball programs, I’m (selfishly or not) always wanting more.
That’s where you come in.
We’ve run “We’re hiring!” stories before, and what better time to do one than on the cusp of a new season.
The Towel Rack is always on the look for new writers — I think any blog (especially one as small and niche as we are) would say that. But, what we really, really are in need of are;
WKU students
and
2. Bowling Green residents
I want recaps of every soccer match. I want recaps of every volleyball match. I want to be able to have a voice come the spring on both baseball and softball. But, it isn’t possible to have a credible and consistent one without, really, being in town and around those sports.
So, here’s my pitch
If you’re a Bowling Green resident or a Western Kentucky student (regardless of year) and you want to put your love of the Hilltoppers into action, then please, consider reaching out to discuss what joining our team would look like.
