One of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life was to attend Western Kentucky. One of my favorite things I’ve ever done with my life is dedicate as much time as I have to, in one form or another, covering the Hilltoppers.

Be it with an outlet like The Extra Point (where I got my first taste of what it’s like to work in any sort of sports media), the precursor to this enterprise of Wave The Red Towel or even in the last several months as basically a talking head on twitter under the “The Towel Rack” moniker, talking about WKU is more than a hobby for me. (Man, is there a more cliche blogger thing to say? I thought I was above those.)

Back in August when The Towel Rack started, we opened with an introduction piece. We stated a simple goal. It was to provide:

…top notch Hilltopper coverage, unique angles with opinions and updates on your favorite ProToppers.

And we did just that. For a few months at least. And then came the endish of football and the beginning of baseball — usually a gold-mine time of year for a site like this, covering a team like WKU — and things went, well, quiet.

And there’s really no good reason for that. Sure, real life got in the way, but that happens with every endeavor. It’s not an excuse and we wont use it here.

But, here’s where we are at. We are coming back. With a couple of previous writers, but mostly, a collection of new writers. We don’t plan to go anywhere again anytime soon (and please, dear God, don’t hold that against me if we go somewhere soon), and you’ll love who is coming on board.
