On Thursday, the Louisville baseball program announced they’ll be hosting the Hilltoppers on Sept. 15 at 1 p.m., just hours before the two teams will meet on the gridiron.
This’ll be a fun way to kill the time before the football game that evening, and for your diamond Topper diehards, will be a fun early look at the Tops ahead of the 2019.
The Cards’ release doesn’t say anything about any sort of special rules or anything and it looks to just be a nice day at the old ball yard. I’m super jealous of anyone able to make that trip.
WKU’s tweet said more information will come out soon about special info for tailgating.
I hope this is the start of a trend of not only in-state exhibitions/matchups (we did see the Wildcats venture from Lexington to BG prior to the volleyball season starting) between the Tops and Cards/Cats, but also a busier fall for the baseball squad.
If my memory serves me correct, the only exhibitions I can recall the Toppers holding are their annual Fall World Series and when the Ontario Blue Jays would come to town (which hasn’t happened in a handful of years).
