Belmont is coming off a series victory over Youngstown State, winning the latter two contests of the weekend series, posting wins of 5–1 and 5–2. WKU, as you know, is coming off a one-win weekend against Memphis.
The Bruins saw production from senior outfielder Cully Day, who logged multi-hit games in the first two contests and totaled three RBI, as well as junior infielder Chas Hadden who knocked consecutive two-hit games to close the weekend.
WKU trails the all-time series against Belmont, 24–22, but are 12–10 all-time in home games against the Bruins, including four straight wins at the Nick.
Here’s to making it five.
It’s still super early in the marathon season, so there isn’t really much to super look forward to, for either side. I’ll be interested to see how 1.) the offense looks (very broad, yes) and 2.) how the starting pitching fares for the Tops; the bullpen was strong this weekend for WKU, but the starters left a lot to be desired.
Oh, and if you’re into that kind of thing, the Tops will be debuting these fresh unis.
