WKU Basketball: Anderson, Bassey Show Off Skills in Scrimmage

On Monday, the WKU men’s basketball team gathered for a scrimmage (or, I guess the technical summer term would be “pick up game,”) durning a hoops camp on campus this week, and as you might guess, it’s the two former Top 50 recruits who stole the show on social media.
The first video that made the rounds, one my guess, was that of Charles Bassey, who slammed home a missed shot and got the kids, as they’d say, lit.
Bassey grabbed the rebound off an errant shot from Josh Anderson, dribbled around and through two defenders and went up all his own. Not bad for someone who we thought would be playing high school ball in 2019.
While Anderson missed the pull up shot in the Bassey video, he wasn’t devoid of his own highlight on the day.
Anderson is leading a one-on-two break away (against who, I honestly can’t tell and for that I apologize) and does his thing all while drawing the and-one against…again, really not sure who. Maybe Mareek Nelson?
While I wasn’t at the scrimmage (I am working to see if someone who was there could be able to tell us more about what exactly they saw), I can imagine it was a lot of dunks and not as fundamental as we’re going to see come November, but getting the team on the court this early will only benefit a squad breaking in a grad transfer, two players about to embark on their first full year of ball and a Top 10 nationally ranked player.
