Western Kentucky forward Desean Murray has been reinstated from his indefinite suspension and will make his regular season debut with the Tops on Saturday against UT-Martin.
WBKO’s Dominique Yates reported Rick Stansbury confirmed the news earlier on Friday.
Murray only missed the year’s final exhibition game against Kentucky Wesleyan and the first regular season game against Washington in which the Hilltoppers could have used a veteran presence on the floor as they couldn’t put together a complete second half against the Huskies.
The short length of Murray’s suspension isn’t surprising as it was more of a message sender than anything else, and what better message to send than to say “you can’t play against a Top 25 team.”
After news of Murray’s suspension broke last weekend, he tweeted a message to the WKU fans.
With Murray’s reinstation (is that a word? I’m going to say it’s a word), the Hilltoppers will be at full roster strength (with the exception of the academically ineligible Lamonte Bearden) for the first time this year, preseason or regular season.
