WKU Basketball: Hilltoppers Dominate in Emotional 71-48 Win Over Ole Miss
An emotional day for everyone with a connection to Western Kentucky ends with an emphatic victory for Dear Old Western.
On what was the most difficult day for anyone with a connection to Western Kentucky University or the city of Bowling Green, the WKU basketball team did not disappoint, throttling Ole Miss, 71-48, Saturday night in Atlanta.
Jamarion Sharp continued his development into one of the Tops’ go-to players, leading all scorers with 16 points while adding nine rebounds and six blocks.
Three other Hilltoppers - Jarius Hamilton, Josh Anderson (13) and Luke Frampton (12) - also totaled double-figure scoring nights.
Defensively, the Hilltoppers logged their best performance against a D1 opponent, holding the Rebels to only 48 points and 27% shooting from the floor. At one point, Ole Miss hit just one of 13 shots from the floor.
It was a great win for the Hilltoppers, no doubt, but of course today was far more about basketball, or any other sport, for that matter.
If you’re one of the people who were affected by the storm, wherever you may have been, our thoughts and deepest condolences are with you. If we can help in any way, please let us know.
If you were affected, I hope you were in a position to sit back, tune out for two hours, and watch the Tops play their best basketball of the season.
If you’re looking for some way to help, we have a couple of relief funds we are helping to spread the word about.
We’ll have your usual deeper dive into all things WKU in the coming days, but for now, we just hope you’re safe and okay.
Be excellent to each other.
Your final stats from tonight.
