Since WKU and Marshall squared off a couple of weeks ago, the Herd have continued to roll through Conference USA play, having taken care of both FIU and FAU in Huntington.
WKU had success against both of those schools as well, but couldn’t hold a 16-point second half lead against the Panthers and came from behind in the second half to defeat the Owls.
Since these two teams just played one another not too long ago, there’s no real need to dive deep. The main thing to posit here — is Saturday’s comeback win from the Tops over FAU enough to get WKU over the hump? Prior to the Tops win, they had lost three-consecutive games by five combined points after blowing at least a 15-point lead.
Now that the bleeding has stopped (however momentarily), will the Tops learn how to put teams away for good? Or was FAU an anomaly?
Facing Marshall on the heels of the FAU win is both a blessing and a curse; I really didn’t want WKU on a four-game losing streak heading into this game, but by the same token, it might take another game or two for the Tops to fully get back on track.
Regardless, this’ll be the last time the Tops are in Diddle until the final day of the month and it should be a great environment.
