WKU Basketball: Hilltoppers Look to Bounce Back Against South Carolina
After a disappointing showing against Minnesota on Friday, WKU looks to take on South Carolina in an attempt to salvage their trip to Asheville.
After a performance that I’ll call deceptively disappointing, the Hilltoppers return to the floor Sunday afternoon to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in the consolation game of the 2021 Charleston Championship.

Despite a 34-point performance from Deyvion McKnight and a four-point loss to the Golden Gophers on Friday, there was a lot left to be desired by the Tops through two games this season.
In the first half alone, WKU has been outscored 71–54 to start the season and are shooting just 28.9% from deep (11–38) over their first two contests. And, while the Tops have shown some second-half fight (led almost exclusively by McKnight and Jarius Hamilton), their front 20 performances are going to have to pick up, and fast, if this season doesn’t want to tail spin into a disaster.
South Carolina fell to Princeton, 66–62, in Friday’s nightcap, with the Gamecocks shooting just 36.2% from the floor and just 15.4% from deep in the effort.
Sunday marks the first meeting between the two programs since 2010 and will hopefully end with WKU’s second-ever win over USCe in program history.
