WKU Basketball: Mitchell Robinson Granted Release From Program

And just like that, it’s official.

And just like that, it’s official.

Late Tuesday night, Rick Stansbury and the WKU basketball program announced that Mitchell Robinson had been released from the WKU program, allowing him to transfer to another NCAA program.

Robinson is now able to transfer to another school, but wont be able to play in the upcoming 2017/18 season unless he’s granted a special waiver by the NCAA.

This announcement ends a saga that began early Friday, when it was reported that Robinson had cleaned out his dorm room and had left campus. Him leaving campus turned into a vacation which turned into God knows what until Stansbury announced the five-star recruit was suspended yesterday.

So, there you have it. It turns out a top 10 player in the country wont be playing for the Hilltoppers after all.

Brad Stephens of the Bowling Green Daily News has announced the details of Robinson’s release.

An interesting provision, to say the least, and even more interesting that it didn’t further extend to “no Kentucky schools”. Or, maybe that’s just me.

Regardless, Robinson will most definitely be playing at the highest level of college basketball…well, whenever he’s allowed to play college basketball.
