The wait is finally over — today, WKU will unveil the new Nike uniforms for the men’s hoops team.
Hooray!
Not only that, but we got a nifty tease last night via the Twitters.
The teaser shows a slick uniform and a design that, I think, we all expected.
Across the chest at the top, it clearly says “Western,” and just below it is where the number will reside. It’s a safe assumption that below the numbers, it’ll read “Kentucky.”
It’s a look that we got peaks of over the last couple of years, and basically anyone who knew what was up had hypothesized would be returning.
For reference, here’s what the style looked like recently:
Compared to the “original” look
Where I think the main difference will come in will be how the wording is laid out. I don’t believe the words will arch around as drastically as the photo directly above, or even in the first example. Hell, it might be even straighter-across than the one of CLee. But, I’m excited for the full-time return of the “Western Kentucky” look.
As much as I loved the throwbacks from that matchup against UTEP in El Paso, what I can garner from the teaser photo makes it look like a much sleeker design (I’m a big fan of the red and black trim around the edges of the uniform as well).
What am I expecting? Basically, a white home uniform and a red road one, with the red trim being replaced by white on the road set. I think it’ll be dope, it’ll be amazing and if we’re lucky, we’ll see a block W at the bottom of the collar (like in the photo of CLee).
