WKU Basketball: Northern Kentucky Point Guard Gives Verbal Commitment, First of 2023
The first commitment of the 2023 class is in, thanks to a Holy Cross High School (Covington, Ky.) guard.
Monday night, Western Kentucky garnered its first verbal commitment of the 2023 class in Covington, Kentucky’s Jacob Meyer.
According to Verbal Commits, Meyer is a two-star point guard who also held interest from Meyer’s hometown Northern Kentucky as well as IUPUI.
Last season as a sophomore at Holy Cross High School, Meyer averaged 25.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per night.
At 6'2", 185 pounds, Meyer is built like a prototypical point guard, something that Rick Stansbury hasn’t had very often while on the Hill. He’s got a smooth left-handed shot and appears to have some serious range and has the ability to finish at the rim when uncontested (his highlight reel doesn’t have a ton of him going through the paint with bodies in front of him) but his ball handling and passing don’t jump out of the screen but, as an incoming junior, he has more than enough time to grow his game before arriving inside Diddle Arena.
