WKU Basketball: Purdue Transfer Brandon Newman Commits to Tops
After a long silence, coach Lutz finally has his first commitment as WKU head coach
We haven’t heard a lot on the recruiting front since Steve Lutz was named WKU head coach a little over a month ago but it looks like that wait has paid off with him getting his first commitment from a school that he was formerly an assistant at.

Newman played at Purdue for three seasons (was there for four but his first year was a redshirt year) and he started in 30 games in his career as a Boilermaker. He averaged 8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in his first year and averaged a total of 6.9 points per game in his career at Purdue.
He was also listed as a four star recruit coming out of high school in Valparaiso, Indiana according to 247Sports.
We have definitely been eager to see when and who coach Lutz’s first commitment will be and this seems to be a pretty good one. Hoping this can help him and his coaching staff gain more momentum in the recruiting front as they continue to fill holes in the roster.
Be sure to follow along as we continue to follow recruiting this off-season!
