We don’t need to tell you about how crazy last week was for WKU basketball, but with Mitchell Robinson officially on campus and reasons for Rick Stansbury’s previous assistants leaving being “normal,” things should hopefully slow down as we gear up for the Tops trip to Costa Rica.
Part of that slowing down came today, when Chad Bishop reported (and I confirmed — yes, that felt incredibly douchey and shallow to say and I shant be saying it again) that Marc Hsu and Nikita Johnson have joined the WKU coaching staff as assistants via the WKU basketball coaching staff page.
No official word has come form the university, just as they still haven’t officially announced the departures from last week.
WKU Recruiting: Hilltoppers Land Florida Linebacker
WKU has gotten it’s seventh commitment for it’s 2018 recruiting class and the repercussions go even further than the…medium.com
Hsu comes from New Mexico by way of New Mexico State (Hsu never actually coached at UNM, from what I understand) and Johnson comes from Stetson, where he has spent the last four seasons.
MCB mentions in his article that Hsu is taking the spot of assistant Chris Cheeks, who — again — the program has yet to confirm his departure, and is still listed as an assistant on the website.
At the very worst, there are assistants in place — along with Ben Hansbrough — for the Costa Rica trip and the beginning of team workouts, which signals a sign of good things for the Tops.
It’s still the darndest thing that WKU athletics has yet to actually confirm these departures and arrivals — but that’s another topic for another day, I suppose.
