WKU Basketball: Toppers Take Floor for First Time in Exhibition Against Campbellsville

Our long nightmare is over. No longer is the disappointing seasons of the football, soccer and even (compared to past seasons) volleyball the only games in town. Tonight, basketball begins in the Bluegrass as the Tops open their two-game exhibition slate against Campbellsville.

Here we are, folks! After a run to the NIT semifinals a year ago, the Hilltoppers are kind of back in action on the hardwood!
It’ll be the Diddle debut of Charles Bassey and DeSean Murray! It’ll be the return of freshman phenoms Taveion Hollingsworth, Josh Anderson and Jake Ohmer! It’ll be…well, a game that doesn’t officially count, but an important first look at what many hope to be a special year on the Hill.
A few things to watch for tonight:
How do Bassey and Murray look in the paint with the departures of Justin Johnson and Dwight Coleby?
How much more athletic has Josh Anderson really gotten? (Not a dig at him…we’ve just heard that multiple times over the offseason and I want to see it for myself.)
What line ups work well together?
I guess you could fit this under the above point, but will the presence of Bassey or Murray help Moustapha Diange look better than what we saw a majority of last year?
More importantly, what lineups wont work well together?
With Lamonte Bearden unable to play the first semester of regular season games, who looks most comfortable running the point?
Those are all of the big things, but there’s a ton to watch for. I’m just excited to get things going.
