We have our first glimpse at what the national TV schedule holds for the Hilltoppers for the upcoming basketball year, as CBS Sports Network has picked up three CUSA contests for the Tops.
The January 18 (8 p.m.) home game against UAB, the February 1 contest at UTEP (9 p.m.) and the Tops clash with MTSU on March 1 (7 p.m.) will all be televised by the network.

Fun note about the January 18 matchup — preceding the Tops will be The Jacksonville State Fighting Ray Harpers taking on Morehead State in Morehead, so it’ll be an all-Kentucky night for the channel.
CBS Sports Network will also play host to the two CUSA semifinals on March 9 (12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.) as well as both the conference’s men’s and women’s title games on March 10 (the women’s game will be played first, at 4:30 p.m. followed by a scheduled 7:30 p.m. tip for the men).
My first reaction to this news is mixed. It’s awesome that these three games — maybe three of the best matchups WKU could have for a national audience — were picked up. Especially if everything is clicking come late conference play, these will be must-watch games.

Having said that, CBSSN has a pair of problems — 1.) not too many households get the channel (or realize they get the channel). Sure, it’s better than being on beIN, but it still isn’t an ESPN platform or even something like NBC Sports Network or FS1. 2.) CBS is stuck in the middle ages when it comes to technology and their games hardly, if ever, are streamed. So if you need to watch on the go (or are a chord-cutting millennial, like myself) that good luck.
But, again, you really couldn’t ask for a better trio of games to showcase the Tops and it just makes me more excited for the hoops season to get here overall.
If you want to view the whole CBS Sports basketball slate (including CBSSN and big CBS), you can do so by clicking here. The CBSSN schedule has a lot of variation to it and every D1 conference is represented by the Eye in some form or another, which is awesome. (Also, shoutout to St. Francis-PA, who will be on before the Tops/Miners game. I lived 20 minutes from there last year and saw a game. Go Red Flash.)
