The Tops are fresh off the heels of a (very impressive) 78–64 win against Samford this past weekend in a hurricane relief exhibition, where only seven players saw action.
The immediate standouts from Sunday were Tavieon Hollingsworth, Justin Johnson and Jake Ohmer, who each led the charge as five Hilltoppers notted double-figures in scoring (and Marek Nelson finished with nine).
Hollingsworth led the way, scoring 19 , and Johnson turned in a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The surprises of the afternoon were a 12-point performance from Ohmer and a double-double from Darius Thompson off 11 points and 10 assists.
As of publication, we’ve yet to hear one way or the other regarding the eligibility of Josh Anderson (who’s brother, Simpson Anderson, plays for CU) or Moustapha Diagne so, I’m betting on them to not be in action, which only hurts WKU in the long run.
Lamonte Bearden didn’t play on Sunday due to a nagging injury, so (again, as of publication) his status is still up in the air as well.
So, let’s assume the Tops roll with eight guys again. I fully expect the starting lineup to be repeated from Samford: Hollingsworth, Johnson, Thompson, Coleby, Nelson.
As far as what I’m looking for specifically tonight — honestly, not much. I want to see how the Tops fare against a team they have absolutely no business losing to, I want to see what they’ll look like back on John Oldham Court and I want to see them in those slick, slick new Nike threads.
I’d also like to see Anderson and Diagne eligible, but I’ll take what I can get.
