WKU Basketball: Tops Get Big Win at Charlotte, 78-59
Tops snapped their five game losing streak and finally got a win on the road
Western Kentucky got off to a hot start tonight and never looked back. After the last five games, this is what we were hoping to see from this team as they finally get back to .500 on the year at 11-11 (3-5 in C-USA) and beat Charlotte, 78-59.
Cam Justice led the Tops with 22 points on 3-of-6 shooting from deep. Josh Anderson looked fantastic off the bench once again and had 20 points and eight rebounds and Dayvion McKnight added 14 points with five rebounds and assists. Jairus Hamilton and Luke Frampton looked pretty good as well with Hamilton being back in his home state and Frampton being back in NC where he started his career at Davidson. Hamilton had nine points and Frampton had eleven points with three triples.
Thankfully with this game, WKU came out from the get go and dominated the 49ers on their own court. The Tops started out on a 12-2 run and kept the lead the entire game. WKU led at halftime, 43-19.
In the second half, Charlotte came out on a 8-0 run and eventually got within twelve points of tying the game but a Frampton three and Justice four point play gave the Tops the momentum they needed to finish the game and win.
I hope this win gives this team their confidence back as they now get ready for Old Dominion in Norfolk on Saturday. These last few games have been painful and hard to watch at times but hopefully they can get back on track and become competitive in the East.
