WKU Basketball: Tops Get Revenge on FAU, 76-69
After some early back and forth (and later some horrible officiating), the Tops held on to get a win over the East leading Owls
Western Kentucky were able to get some revenge on the FAU Owls after losing in Boca Raton 78-69 last month and get a nice home win despite some adversity, 76-69.
Four Toppers has double figures with Cam Justice leading the way with 19 points on 3-of-8 shooting from downtown while Jamarion Sharp had a quite perfect night with 15 points, nine rebounds, and seven blocks. Dayvion McKnight still added 18 points and Jairus Hamilton added 12 points and nine rebounds on a not so hot shooting night from him.
In the first half, FAU had control of the game for the majority of the half but the Tops were finally able to wake up some before halftime and lead going into the locker room, 30-27.
In the second half, the Tops were able to keep control of their lead but not without FAU fighting back and also the game flow being completed disrupted by the officials. WKU ended up with two technical fouls in the game (one of them on coach Stansbury). Thankfully despite all of this, WKU never trailed in the second half and won, 76-69.
Getting a win against the Top team in the East should be a great confidence booster for the Tops as they get a mostly east conference schedule coming up. WKU are now 13-11 overall and are 5-6 in C-USA play.
