Ashland, Kentucky's Colin Porter has garnered an offer from Western Kentucky, Porter tweeted this weekend.
Porter is set a 2023 recruiting target.
Standing 5'10", 160 pounds, the Paul G. Blazer point guard had an impressive summer at the Kentucky-West Virginia Shootout, totaling 29 and 19 points in two games (both Kentucky wins). That performance earned him an offer from Marshall.
Porter, who does not yet have a ranking with a major recruiting service, also garners offers from Akron, Liberty, Lipscomb, Morehead State Western Carolina and Radford.
He competed in July’s ASAK Classic, playing with other top prospects for the 2022 and ’23 classes.
In his write up of the event, 247Sports’ Brandon Jenkins said this about Porter’s performance:
Another 2023 prospect playing up is Ashland Blazer point guard Colin Porter. A confident guard who has great burst, Porter was terrific in his 20-point game vs. Southern Assault. In a game filled with high major coaches on the sidelines, Porter made timely shots and was terrific with his decision-making on the floor. The end result of his weekend was an influential in-state offer from Western Kentucky.
Currently, Porter is just one of two point guars who has garnered an offer from the Tops, along with Kaden Gumbs from San Marcos, Texas.
