The Tops are set to begin a stretch that includes six incredibly winnable games and what should end with a seven game winning streak (eight, total, if you include last Saturday’s win over Marshall) tonight against UTEP in El Paso.

There really isn’t a whole lot to say ahead of this one — WKU is a very good basketball team, and UTEP is not. The Miners’ former coach, Tim Floyd, announced his intent to step down from the program immediately following the team’s sixth game of the season, and it’s really been all downhill from there.
They’ve beaten two teams in C-USA play — Rice and FIU, both at home — and are riding a three game losing streak to UTSA (who the Tops have on Saturday), UAB and MTSU.
Omega Harris and Keith Frazier are the offensive cogs, as each average 11.4 points per game, but their leading rebounded only averages 5.4 a game (Matt Willms).
In essence, here’s what should go down tonight: Justin Johnson and Dwight Coleby are going to have a field day in the paint, and each should log at least 15 points. Hell, if things go well, we might finally see Moustapha Diagne break out a bit.
Also, if ever there’s a night to fully immerse Josh Anderson into being a nightly 20-point guy, tonight is the night. And if Jake Ohmer can start to get hot again tonight, that’d be swell too.
The only hope I see UTEP having is if the Tops get caught looking forward to Saturday, and sleepwalk to open the game. But, WKU closes out games as strong as anyone in the conference, so even that might not be enough for the Miners.
