It took a bit to get going for the Tops, but once they did, there was no stopping them as WKU rolled to a 98–70 victory over UAB to advance to the semifinals in the Conference USA tournament.
Five Toppers scored in double figures, led by 22 points from Taveion Hollingsworth, as well as 20 from Darius Thompson, 19 from Justin Johnson and 10 from Josh Anderson off the bench.
The Tops shot a whopping 60% from the floor (basically a complete reversal from last week in Birmingham) and out rebounded the Blazers 34–27.
Honestly, there really isn’t a lot to say. The stats really do speak for themselves tonight. The Tops basically dominated and UAB couldn’t hit shots — they ended both halves with field goal droughts that spanned more than four minuets, and ended each half going 0-for-6 or worse from the floor.
Tomorrow, it’s the #3 seeded ODU, who the Tops have already beaten twice. Will the third time be the charm for the Monarchs, or will the Tops continue to play lights out?
We’ll find out at 3 p.m.
