After some hot three point shooting and strong performances from Ledoux and Lofton Jr, Louisiana Tech defeat the Tops in the second round of the NIT, 72–65.
Jordan Rawls had 20 points and shot 4-of-7 from deep this game as he quite literally put the team on his back, especially in the first half. Charles Bassey had 15 points and 16 rebounds in another strong performance from him but it wasn’t enough tonight.
This game was very back and forth in the first half with WKU going on a 10–0 run but then Tech answering with a big run of their own thanks to some red shot three point shooting. They extended their run and led 39–31 at the half.
The second half was more of the same. Tech extended their lead to double digits and the Tops were able to claw back and get within two point but the Bulldogs put their foot on the gas and never let up.
It’s definitely disappointing to see seniors Taveion Hollingsworth and Josh Anderson go out this way. They had a combined 21 points between them tonight.
We now will head into the offseason with lots of questions and some disappointment. It’s always hard seeing you’re team lose like this but with a bunch of new and fresh players expected to come in next season, we’ll have to see what all happens the next few months and see who stays and who goes and who Rick Stansbury can bring into the program.
