Western Kentucky looked a lot better tonight in Diddle Arena and were able to score over 80 points in their first game against Marshall, 81–73.
Charles Bassey had 21 points and a career high 19 rebounds and Josh Anderson had a big night with 22 points and a big slam dunk.
It took a while for either team to find any rhythm at the beginning of the game but the Tops were able to get by double digits before halftime. Marshall didn’t go down without a fight and keep chipping away at the Tops’ lead and were able to cut it down to one but were never able to take the lead after WKU took control of the game.
With this win, WKU is now 10–4 overall and 3–2 in C-USA. The Herd will now look for revenge in their second matchup on Sunday, this time in Huntington. Almost everyone has struggle with back to back games so this extra day of rest could benefit both teams.
