WKU Football out grinded Army last Saturday and moved to 4–2 on the season. Hilltopper fans can now realistically start dreaming of a bowl trip for the first time since 2017. WKU would only have to go 2–4 the rest of the way to reach the six wins required for bowl eligibility. Here are your Conference USA standings through seven weeks:
Reminder, Conference USA has eight primary bowl tie-ins and two secondary tie-ins. Thus far Rice, UTEP & ODU look like they’re probably out of the postseason race but several other teams are right on the cusp of missing the postseason. With that in mind, here are the latest bowl projections across the internet post-Week 7.

With the win against Army most publications now are on the WKU to a bowl train but there are several that still don’t include the Tops despite being 4–2. I’d put that blame more on slower reaction to G5 teams than a general doubt of WKU. If they take care of business against Charlotte, I think that all will include WKU next week.
When it comes to actual bowl destinations, I see the Gasparilla Bowl being in Tampa as WKU’s #1 choice. WKU recruits Florida hard and the chance at a solid AAC matchup would probably put that over the top. I selfishly would want the New Orleans Bowl because WKU hasn’t played in it yet and Bourbon Street would be awesome. Also, the potential matchup against Appalachian State would be a chance for a statement win.
We’ll continue to update you weekly on the projections and as more outlets (Bleacher Report, etc.) release their projections following Week 8.
