247Sports doesn’t list a rating for Morton, but does list him at 6'4" and 210 pounds. In nine games for Hinds CC last year, Morton passed for 1,338 yards and 13 touchdowns. He finished with the 14th best pass efficiency last year in the NJCAA with a 138.8 clip.
If you were to tell me Morton was a pocket passer, I’d believe you. He has a cannon (and can launch it even when off balance) and can both lob it in and zip it through tight spaces. But, that isn’t to say he can’t boogie, either. He can get it done with his legs, but if the option to throw is there, he’s going to take it.
This commitment is an exciting one and it appears to signify an official shift in the type of offense Sanford wants to run. It’ll be a fun battle with Morton and Kevaris Thomas for the next several years.
Morton is the first quarterback in the class of 2019, and is the ninth member of the class.
