With the slow summer news period starting in earnest, WKU Football got some good news on Friday as former Georgia linebacker Jaden Hunter announced that he’ll be joining the WKU Football program
The 6'2'’ 228 pound Hunter just completed his redshirt sophomore season in Athens. He played sparingly in his two seasons appearing in just three games. The Atlanta native was a four-star recruit coming out of Westlake High School and held offers from highly esteemed programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Auburn & Florida. Hunter was the #137 player in the country according to 247 Sports but probably got lost in the shuffle with Georgia’s highly talented roster. Here is his Hudl tape
Hunter was arrested for a traffic violation in March and that may have hastened his departure from the Bulldog program. It's not known if Hunter graduated early or not so we’ll have to wait and see if he’ll be eligible in 2019. If so he’ll be a welcomed fixture on a defense that lost Ben Holt to graduate transfer to Purdue. If not he’ll have 3 years to be a fixture in WKU’s defense. Hunter is the third SEC transfer on WKU’s roster joining Eli Brown and Ty Storey.
This is a huge coup for first-year coach Tyson Helson, who has shown he’s willing to take the best available players to upgrade the talent level in Bowling Green following similar moves by predecessor Jeff Brohm (TJ McCollom, Keith Brown, Nick Dawson-Brents just to name a few). We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
